Mass Combat Basics

Mass combat is essentially the commander of one unit fighting the commander of another unit where the stats of the army provide bonuses.

Magnitude & Might
Based upon the size of the force, the composition of the force and the weapon quality of the force.
This value is added as automatic successes to a commander’s attack rolls. If there is a difference in Magnitudes of the opposing forces that can apply up to a +3 or -3 bonus to this value.

Drill
Based upon the training of the force and is used in changing formations and maintaining formation.

Endurance
(Drill + Stamina)
Used as a reserve of energy that is lose during a battle. When lost the unit suffers penalties.

Combat Rating (Close/Ranged)
(Dexterity + Combat Ability + Weapon Accuracy)/2, rounded down
This value is added as automatic successes to a commander’s attack rolls, capped by the commander’s War rating.
This value, divided up 2, adds to the commander’s Parry DV.

Damage Rating
(Strength + Weapon Damage)/3, rounded up
This value is added as a damage dice increases to a successful attack.

Soak
(Lethal Soak)/3, rounded up
This value is added to the natural soak of the commander.

Mobility Penalty
Average mobility penalty of the unit’s equipment.
This value replaces the commander’s mobility penalty.

Hardness
Average mobility penalty of the unit’s equipment.
This value replaces the commander’s mobility penalty.

Morale
Lowest of either the commander’s Valor or the average Valor of the unit

Join War
(Wits + War – Magnitude)
This value replaces the commander’s Join Battle.
